Dr. Roan was born in Zebulon, Georgia and grew up in Concord, Georgia and Naples, Florida. He attended Emory University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He attended Emory University Dental School where he graduated one of the top students in his class. He was a member of the OKU dental society for honors students. After recieving his dental degree, Dr. Roan served in the United States Air Force. Following his service committment, he returned to Emory where he taught at the Emory dental school for a year before entering the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery graduate program there.
Upon completion of his residency program, he moved to Valdosta
Georgia where he set up practice in 1981. He has never regretted the
move and loves the South Georgia community. Since moving to Valdosta,
Dr. Roan has become board certified by the American Board of Oral
and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is a Fellow in the American
Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, a Fellow of the
American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, an active
member of the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental
Association and the Georgia Association of Oral and Maxillofacial
Recently, Dr. Roan was elected Chief of the Medical Staff at South
Georgia Medical Center where he has been on the Medical Executive
Committee for many years. He presently serves as Immediate Past
Chief of the Medical Staff and Chairman of the By-laws committee. He
also serves as on the Finance Committe at Trinity Presbyterian where
he has served as Elder and Past Treasurer.
Dr. Roan and his wife Chris are the proud parents of three daughters,
two grandaughters and two grandsons. He enjoys spending time with the
family, reading the same book over and over, working out, traveling
and world peace. In addition to other community projects, Dr. Roan
is a strong supporter of Habitat for Humanity and enjoys working on
Habitat builds both locally and worldwide.
